William F. Witczak, age 88, at rest on Monday, January 04, 2016 at Loyola University Medical Center.
William is survived by his loving children, Bruce (Vicki) Witczak and Paula (Jeffrey) Simcox; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Alex) Thoele, Elise (Timothy Hall) Simcox, Lauren and Jacqueline Witczak; great-granddaughter, Sadie Elizabeth Hall; sister-in-law, Dorothy Shepich; dear friend and companion, Eleanor McGuire; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Olga Witczak; brother, Leonard Witczak; parents, Frank and Sophie Witczak.
William was born and raised in Crest Hill, IL and attended Lockport Township High School. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran serving during WWII on the South Pacific islands of Leyte, Siapan and Mori Honshu on the U.S.S. Fillmore APA-83 Attack Transport Ship. He retired from Olin Chemical in 1990 after many years of dedicated service as a Millwright. William was a member of the Joliet Cantigny Post #367, Joliet Rivals Club, Northwest Recreation Club, Moran A.C., Old Timers Baseball. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and diehard Chicago Cubs fan. Papa Willie was a wonderful grandfather and took no greater pleasure then spending time with his sweetie pies.

A celebration of William’s Life will begin on Friday, January 8, 2016 with a service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Jim Lennon officiating. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
