Age 61, at peace in his home of Seal Beach, CA on September 20, 2008. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Frank and Victoria Lewandowski and is survived by his sisters, June Lewandowski of Culver City, CA, Mary (Jim) Bulger of Joliet, IL and Nancy Hooks of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his two nephews, Justin and Michael Hooks, and numerous cousins.
Born in Joliet on May 27, 1947, Bill moved to enjoy the sun of California 27 years ago. He worked for the Carpenters Union #2361 as a master carpenter and especially enjoyed putting the finishing touches on beautiful homes he was involved in constructing.
Bill attended St. John the Baptist Grade School and was a student in the first graduating class of Joliet West High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps from 1967 to 1971 in the capacity of Microwave Radio Communications and was stationed in Helmstedt, Germany. Upon his return, he attended Western Illinois University and graduated in 1975 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was a member of American Legion Post 857, Seal Beach, CA. Bill had a love of motorcycles and race cars and was known to build both in the family's garage built specifically for his hobby.
Meet at the Welcome Center at 10:15 a.m. for 10:30 a.m. Memorial Service and Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 27034 S. Diagonal Rd., Elwood, IL on Friday, November 7, 2008 where he will join his parents in his final resting place.
