Survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane (nee Salopek) Gov-ednik; sons, William (Laurie), Paul (Debbie Jones), Mark (Lynda); and daughter, Kathleen (late Brent) Gunier; grandchildren, Colleen (Steve) Gunier Russell, Raymond, Carrie, and Crystal Gunier, Scott, Mark, Gail, Lauren, Joseph and Jacob Govednik; great grandchildren, Canon Russell and Kiera Gov-ednik; brothers, Joseph (Barbara) and James Govdenik; sisters, Jean Govednik and Dorothy (John) Mahon; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers in law and sisters in law.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Johanna (nee Kasmerl) Govednik.
Member of St. Joseph Church Holy Name Society, Elks, American Legion Post 1080, JRC and WRC Pigeon Racing Club, Slovenian Womans Union, Navy Veteran WWII, Cantigney Post, Retired Carpenters Local #174. Previously very active in the local Democratic Party

Services Tuesday 9:30 am from funeral home to St. Joseph Church Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am Visitation Monday 2pm to 8pm. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
