William E. Cox “Bill,” age 78, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 with his loving family by his side.

William is survived by his loving children, William Sr. (Susan) Cox, Jonathan (the late Brigitte) Cox, Trisha (James Harrigan) Alling and Tracy (James) Goolsby; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Dietz; devoted caregivers, Brittney (fiancé Andy Randt) Goolsby; cherished friends, John and Bonnie Wielgosz; numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his loving wife, Irma J. (nee Zenisek) Cox; parents, Edward and Rose (nee Babich) Cox; mother and father-in-law, Bernice and Jonathan Zenisek; daughter-in-law, Brigitte Cox; sister-in-law, Mary Case.

Bill was born and raised in Joliet. He retired from United States Steel and American Steel and Wire after over 30 years of service. Bill was an avid outdoors man and loved camping and fishing. He will be dearly missed.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the entire staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations in William’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

A celebration of William’s life will begin on Sunday, February 14, 2016 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. Per William’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded following services. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date.
