William Cop
Age 84, of Joliet, died Thursday, January 20, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center. Bill is survived by his brother, Anthony Cop, great niece and nephew, Kelli and Scott Cop, and his sister-in-law Lillian (late Albert) Cop.
He was preceded by his parents, Frank and Antonia (nee Vidmar) Cop, sister Mary Cop, brothers Albert Cop and Frank Cop, and longtime companion, Shirley Carlson.
Bill was a US Navy veteran of WW II, retired from GAF (Ruberoid) Corporation after 40 years of service. He was a well-known baseball player for various local teams, as well as an avid bowler with multiple 300 games.
A Celebration of Bill"s Life will take place with a Memorial Mass at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 10 AM. His family will greet visitors from 9 AM until the time of Mass. Interment will follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
