Wilber W. Beaird, age 82, died suddenly from coronary artery disease on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center with his wife and daughters at his side.
Wilber proudly served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne and was retired from Commonwealth Edison. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, woodcarving and other artwork.
Wilber is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara (nee Conklin); four daughters, Diane (George) Hohenwater, Deborah (Joseph) Wright, Denise (Brian) McEvilly, and Dana (Tom Morris) Beaird; as well as his sister, Joyce. Also surviving are Wil’s grandchildren, Brett and Scott Hohenwater, Michael and Christopher Wright, Samantha (Garrett) Matichak, Colin Otis, and Aidan Beaird; great-granddaughters, Kylie McHale, Madison and Emma Matichak, and Leiylah Wright.
Preceded in death by his mother, Catherine (nee Dusa) Beaird.
Wil and Barb spent their last 25 winters in Mesa, Arizona where they enjoyed many cherished friendships.
Memorials in Wilber’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
A celebration of Wilber’s life will begin on Friday, May 4, 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
