Wanda J. Such (nee Buttry), age 78, was welcomed home by her loving husband “Johnny” on Thursday, August 31, 2017 with her family by her side.
Wanda is survived by her daughters, Mary Beth (Martin) Guzman and Lisa Bender; grandchildren, Ashlee (Josh) Tubbs, Marleigh Guzman, Amelia and Anthony (fiancée Alyssa) Guzman, Caroline and Jack Bender; great-grandchildren, James, Joseph, Joshua and Ashlynn Tubbs; one sister-in-law, Judy Buttry and her care-giver Shawn. Numerous nieces, nephews, and her dear friends from the ONO Club also survive.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, John T. Such; her parents, Lowry and Violet (nee Benson) Buttry; and brother, Albert “Butch” Buttry.
Wanda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; married to a die-hard Cubs fan for over fifty years.
She was a devoted member of the CCW at St. Ambrose Church. She cherished her lifelong friends of the Morris Community High School class of 1957.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Wanda’s name to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago or St. Ambrose Catholic Church would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Wanda’s life will begin with a visitation on Monday, September 4, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road - Joliet, IL) followed by prayers in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Morris, IL at 10:00 a.m.
