Wanda Anne Ligos (nee Ustaszewski), age 94, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, July 3, 2017 with her loving family at her side.
Wanda is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Roger Tooley; loving granddaughters, Bethany (Marco Albores) Tooley and Alicia (Jason Berg) Tooley; precious great-grandchildren, Joaquin Antonio Albores and Elowyn Rae Tooley-Berg.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, Louis J. Ligos Sr.; dear son, Louis J. Ligos Jr.; daughter-in-law, Eileen Ligos (nee Rink); parents, Paul and Mary Ustaszewksi; siblings, Gertrude, Emil, Catherine, Bernise, Peter, Stanley and Edward.
Wanda was a lifelong resident of Joliet. She was a graduate of Providence Catholic High School. Wanda later went on to work for the Joliet News Paper Agency for 50 plus years. She married her husband, Louis, during the blizzard of 1944. She was a devout Catholic who honored her faith. Wanda was a lifelong member of the Joliet East Side Athletic Club as well as Ss. Cyril & Methodius Rosary Society. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bunco and was extremely organized in all aspects of life. Wanda was a great cook and enjoyed baking potica, perogis, roski and her famous Texas cake brownies. Wanda was a faithful and devoted Chicago Cubs fan. She celebrated their World Series win with tremendous pride. Her greatest blessings in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they shared true joy together. She cherished the moments she shared with her family. Her light and Polish traditions will live on through them. Wanda will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to her dear neighbors, the women at Comfort Keepers and Joliet Area Community Hospice.

A celebration of Wanda’s life will begin on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 with a visitation at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (100 N. Scott St. Joliet) from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL.
There will be no services at the funeral home.
