Age 78, of Joliet, passed away Tuesday, October 30th following a courageous battle with cancer at Joliet Area Community Hospice with his family by his side. Preceded in death by his parents Walter & Bernice Sova, brother John Sova, and sister Eleanor (Sova) Martis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary T. (Galick); his children Karen (Thomas) Tomac, Judy (Mark) Merzlock, son David Sova and precious grandchildren Michael Adam Tomac, Kristyn, Rebecca and Matthew Sova.
Also surviving are one brother Edward (Rita) Sova, one sister Loretta (Sova) Grachan and one sister-in-law Shirley Sova, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Walter was a life-long resident of Joliet. He served in the Army during the Korean War being stationed at the 38th Parallel. He was employed at the E J & E Railway for 41 years, retiring to spend his time gardening, woodworking and traveling with his beloved wife. Walter had a special talent to solve any problem. He was always there to help anyone in need. He was an honorable, self-reliant, and loving person who embraced his faith in God. Walter was deeply devoted to his family. All who knew him will miss his genuinely honest sense of humor.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2, 2007 at Holy Cross Church beginning at 10:00 AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM.
