Virginia R. Sefcik (nee Soliman), age 87, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with her loving family by her side.
Virginia is survived by her loving children, David J. (Linda) Sefcik, Diane R. (Raymond) Slobodnik, Linda R. Cantrell, and Susan R. Grant; cherished grandchildren, Lucas D. Sefcik, Ethan D. Sefcik, and Philip Orasco, Samantha R. (fiancé David Grganto) and Sharon R. (Kevin Smith) Slobodnik, Lindsey R. Cantrell, Kevin F., Keegan B., and Kameron E. Grant; cherished great grandson, Owen Michael Smith; loving friend, Bernie Letassy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Frank J. Sefcik; parents, Esa and Lillian (nee Nemoir) Soliman; brothers, Raymond, Michael, and Edward Soliman; sister, Nancy Balek.
Virginia was a lifetime resident of Joliet, the place where she started her family and became a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a longtime parishioner of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Joliet and member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Post 1080, VFW Cantigny Post 367, Women of the Moose Lodge 300 Ladies Auxiliary, Senior Citizen Association, and lifetime member of Joliet Eastside Club. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Blackhawks fan. Virginia enjoyed reading, crocheting, and sweets. She was a very social person who cherished the company of her family and friends. Her energy, compassion, and kindness are the qualities that made her such a special person.

A Celebration of Virginia’s life will begin on Saturday, January 23, 2016 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Joliet. Visitation will be Friday, January 22, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435.
