Virginia R. Polesel

January 16, 1930 — December 9, 2013

Surrounded by her beloved family, Virginia passed away peacefully into God's loving arms, December 9, 2013. Virginia touched the lives of many and will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Born January 16, 1930, Virginia grew up across the street from St. Thaddeus Church on Joliet's east side. Whenever the nuns needed to go to Chicago, they would yell out their front door, ""Virginia!"" and she would come running. (Back then, the Sisters needed a lay person to accompany them.) This early exposure to her Catholic faith laid a foundation that stood the test of time and trials, without waver. Her faith and her family are her legacy. Precious mother of Nancy (late Jerry) Martin, Sally, Pete, and Marlene, her memory and her example will live on in her children.

Virginia is preceded in death by her cherished husband of 53 years, Peter A. Polesel, Jr., her loving parents, Andrew and Frances (nee Strahanowski) Chmielewski, and her beloved siblings, Aloysius and Angeline.

A parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Rockdale for 63 years, and a member of its Council of Catholic Women, she looked forward to attending Mass every week. She loved spending time with her family and going to her many tried-and-true restaurants, playing cards, loooong car rides, crosswords, craft shows, and watching her favorite teams and game shows. Virginia was also a fabulous cook and potica & rouskie maker! Yum!

With her great attitude, always happy demeanor, and abounding energy, you never would've known she had been sick for the last 10 years. She was an aMOMaly! ...Living Proof that with God all things are possible!

A devoted wife and Mother-Like-No-Other, she, like our dear father, was...

A Real life Hero, the hardest to find,

One all about family and all of the time.

Devoted, unselfish, and willing to bend,

All caring; always sharing

a love without end.

We miss you already and cherish the day,

When we'll be together, forever, to stay.

God blessed our lives when He gave us you.
