Age 98, at rest January 31, 2016 at Joliet Hospice Home. Born June 20, 1917 in Joliet, IL and a life-long resident.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Raymond Jakovich (2000) and a daughter, Mary Therese, in infancy; her parents Martin and Helen (Stukel) Mutz; seven brothers, Frank, Martin, Joseph (Ann), Max, Edward (Lucille), John (Ann), James (Helen); and six sisters, Helen, Mary, Victoria (Anthony) Buchar, Frances (Francis) Zelesnik, Bernadine (Raymond) Meader, and Irene (William) Stark.
She is survived by three daughters, Jane (Ronald) Kohl, Ellen Jakovich, and Mary Kay Jakovich (Frank Masterson); two granddaughters, Rachel (Rick Mitchell), and Renee (Kevin Delaney) Kohl; two sisters-in-law, Agnes (late Fred) Horvat and Mary (late Robert) Jakovich. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Vida was a life-long member of St. Joseph Church of Joliet, member of the Rosarians, Altar and Rosary Society, Ladies Auxiliary VFW, KSKJ, and as a young woman was a member of the Slovenian Choir at St. Joseph Church. Vida’s hobbies included sewing and baking, she was well known for her potica and apple strudel.

A celebration of Vida’s life will begin on Thursday, February 4, 2016 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Joliet.
