Victor W. Pavlich “Grampe,” age 89, lifelong resident of Crest Hill, battled kidney failure and several other medical issues for the past five years. Grampe was chosen to be an angel among us on December 1st, 2018.
Two of his greatest joys in life were caring for his granddaughter, “The Mich” and great-grandson, “Kevie.” They both kept him very busy and full of joy.
Vic was born December 23rd, 1928. Preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Evelyn (nee Stiglich) Pavlich; in-laws, Dominic and Teresa Buffer; and three siblings, Anthony, Lorraine, and Theresa.
Survived by his loving wife and best friend forever, of 65 years, Betty (nee Buffer); son, Bill; daughter, Sharon Cullen; a VERY SPECIAL granddaughter, Michelle L. (Kevin) Lynn; and his reason to battle all his illnesses the best he could, great-grandson, Kevin Roy Lynn Jr.; brothers, George (Ardis), Ed, Butch, and Lenny; sister, Anne Baudino; several nieces and nephews. The love he had for his family and friends was priceless.
Vic was a huge and devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs, NASCAR, Homer Mustang basketball, Lockport Porter Basketball and Providence Celtic Football. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, member of Cantigny Post #367, Chaney Club, active parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill, Joliet Senior Club (table 8). Vic was also the Crest Hill Deputy Liquor Commissioner and earlier retired from the Army Corps of Engineers. He volunteered for the Lockport High School Reality Program and the Rialto Theater. Vic could put a smile on anybody’s face. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the Crest Hill City Officials and Staff for many years of friendship.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Joliet Park District Sunshine and Rainbows Learning Center or St Anne Catholic Church Building Fund.
A celebration of Victor’s life will begin on Thursday, December 6, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
