Victor Gregory Milsap

November 6, 1969 — September 29, 2024

Victor G. Milsap was born November 6, 1969 in Joliet, IL to Leon and Shirley Milsap. On September 29, 2024, Victor G. Milsap, also known as “Viddy G”, passed away peacefully with his mother, wife and daughter by his side.

Victor was a graduate of Joliet Central High School and was great at drawing and sculpting. Victor was baptized at an early age and was a long-time member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the spiritual guidance of Dr. Rev. Isaac Singleton.

To Victor, family was always an important staple to him. He always wanted to be around all of his family, especially family who would come in from out of town. On September 14, 1996 he married the love of his life Melissa. Victor retired from The United States Postal Service after fifteen years and has served his community well.

Victor was also a sports fanatic. Some of his favorite teams were the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Bulls and the Green Bay Packers; just to name a few. He was a big fan of Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and Brett Favre. He was an avid sports cards collector and even had a few Pokémon cards in his collection as well. Beyond that, Victor was also a youth summer league basketball coach and the 8th grade girls’ basketball coach for Washington Jr. High School. He led his team to a down state championship game eight times and won five championships of those eight. Victor had the joy of being able to coach his eldest daughter (Victoria) on summer league teams, and was proud that she had inherited his love of sports. If Victor wasn’t watching sports or coaching, he was spending time with his wife doing the things they loved the most, like planting flowers and detailing their cars. He loved cooking on the grill and was famous for his gumbo on New Years Eve. Victor will be missed and forever loved by all those who knew him.

Victor is preceded in death by his father Leon Milsap, whom he loved and cherished; maternal grandparents Arthur and Zinnie Cornelius; paternal grandparents J.B. and Argella Milsap; uncles Lee Calvin Milsap, Reginald Cornelius; aunt Linda Turner; special friend Shawn Hamilton and his beloved cat Lucky.

Those left to cherish his memories include; his loving wife of twenty-eight years Melissa Milsap (nee Breen); his children Victoria (Latrell) Milsap, Kevin (Tiffany) Taylor and Chanel (Dayvonte) Weddington, all of Joliet; his grandchildren Kevin Jr. and Elijah Taylor, Aveah Lewis, Laila Weddington and Aubrey Jones; his mother Shirley Milsap of Joliet, IL; brother Leon Eric Milsap and sister Letha Griffin of Joliet, IL; mother and father in-law Richard and Jane Breen of Crest Hill, IL; brothers in-law William “Bill” Breen of Crest Hill, IL and Richard “Rick” Breen of Joliet, IL; niece Lisa Breen of Joliet, IL; nephew Lucas (Jordyn) Breen of Joliet, IL; special nieces Tashianna Milsap of Phoenix, AZ, Erika (Ben) Beazley of Crest Hill, IL and Erris Milsap of Plainfield, IL; great nephews Sabastian Robinson, Isaiah and Benjamin Beazley, Jakiese Warren, Joseph and Jace Davis, and Maverick Breen; uncles Kennedy (Sharon) Milsap of Marietta, GA, Jerry Milsap of St. Louis, MO, Sylvanious “Wince” (Pat) Milsap of Joliet and Rufus (Bobbi) Milsap, aunts Barbara (Cornelius) Spann of Olive Branch, MS and Raychel Sanders of Houston, TX; special friends and family Anitra (Chris) Meloncon and Steve Page as well as his beloved dog Blue. Many other friends and family too numerous to name individually also survive.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Steve Page for always being there for Victor when needed.
