Velza Davis Sr.

Velza Davis Sr., age 81, passed away on Saturday February 25, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

Velza is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Donna (nee Back); three sons, Velza Jr. (Debbie) Davis, Robert (Dianne) Davis and Richard (Kaycee) Davis; grandchildren, Jessica (Michael Kash) Davis, Steven Davis, Kristi (Del) Hollingsworth, Jennifer (Joel) Fisher, Robert Jr., Milan (Laura) Bender, Terry (Jamie) Scott, Marcus (Amber) Scott, Dustin Scott and Amber Scott; great-grandchildren, Ayden and Ayvre Hollingsworth, Joshua, Jillian, Jaqueline and Jacob Fisher, Breanna Davis, Ashton, Riley and Bentley Bender, Nathan Scott  and Thea Rose Scott. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his parents, William and Eliza Davis; siblings, Haden, Merkel, Harland and Alva Davis.

Velza was born in Sheridan, IL. He and his family then migrated to Joliet, IL where he later went on to graduate high school from Joliet Township Central. He married the love of his life Donna (Back) Davis on December 23, 1956. Velza retired from Reynolds Aluminum in McCook, IL. Velza was an avid Cubs, Blackhawks and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan. He loved watching baseball, hockey, and NASCAR. He enjoyed spending time relaxing with his family and grandkids. He loved his pets Tigger dog and Happy dog. He will be truly missed.

A Celebration of Velza’s life will begin on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 with a service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd. Joliet, IL 60435 from 4-8 p.m.
