Urs Brennward
October 26, 1923 — March 9, 2012
Urs Brennwald, age 88, promoted to glory on March 9, 2012. Born October 26, 1923 in Mannedorf, Switzerland. Urs was the youngest of 6 children. After earning his Mechanical engineering degree in Switzerland , he worked in Denmark, Sweden, Belgium and Cuba. Urs met his wife Sylvia in Sweden where they got married and honeymooned in a castle in Sweden. Shortly there after the two moved to Joliet, Illinois and Urs came here to start his career at Fjellman American of Sweden, where he later bought the business and named it Brennwald LTD.
Preceded in death by his parents Ernst and Hermine (Becker) Brennwald, his beloved wife Sylvia and his son Steven, one brother Ernst Brennwald and three sisters Martha, Ruth and Hermine.
Survived by his children Ursula(Jeff) Lukanc, his grandchildren Kendrick and Gavin, one brother, Alfred, of Switzerland and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends Hannelore Richweiss, Mike and Lauri Paddock, Bill and Billie Niswonger, Bill Bekker, Andrew Griparis, Lisa Carlson and the special staff members at Villa Franciscan.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Faith Lutheran Church or Joliet Salvation Army. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 353 North Midland Avenue, Joliet . Interment Private. Immediately following the service a luncheon will be served at the Faith Lutheran Church.
