Todd Michael Hanson
Age 52 of Joliet, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born April 1, 1970 in Plainfield, Todd was a son of Michael and Sandy (Bishop) Hanson. Todd was raised and educated in Plainfield and graduated from Plainfield High School with the class of 1988. After graduation, he immediately enlisted and proudly served with the United States Marine Corps. He was stationed at Cherry Point, North Carolina before being sent to serve in Desert Storm. Throughout his life, Todd maintained a love and appreciation of all things Marine Corps. From the statue at the door to the pillows on his couch, you could not enter a room in his home without seeing an eagle, globe, and anchor. He was honored and proud of that accomplishment. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, Todd returned to the area and lived his life in Joliet.
To know Todd was to know exactly what was on his mind. He enjoyed, and could quote, all episodes of Seinfeld and pretty much every action and Sci -fi movie. He had a quick wit and a biting humor. Memories of Todd would not be complete without discussing his love of Las Vegas, boxing and MMA matches, and HIS team: the Minnesota Vikings. One of his greatest loves and accomplishments was Tae Kwon Do. He was a student and teacher at Master Kwon’s throughout the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Todd traveled to South Korea to train and compete, an uplifting experience he carried with him throughout his life.
Todd leaves behind his parents: Mike and Sandy; one daughter: Jessica (Josh) Clarke; her three children: Ben, Dahlia and Emme, and siblings: Robin (Rick) Tkach and Jeffrey Hanson, as well as his nieces and nephews who he loved to harass.
Per Todd’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
Todd will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois where he will receive full military honors for his service and dedication to his country. The committal service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The family would like to extend an invitation to relatives and friends to join them in celebrating Todd’s life.
