Thomas J. Svitek, age 84. Passed away peacefully at home Friday, August 5, 2016. Born September 19, 1931; a lifelong Joliet resident.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Kristina (Sutka) Svitek; brothers, John, Peter and Francis (late Betty) Svitek; sisters, Mary (late Arthur) Myers, Helen (late Dominic) Ciarlette, and Theresa Svitek.
Survived by one sister, Frances (late Mike) Pillow, and niece Mary Svitek. Numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Tom will be most deeply missed by Mary and all her children, Michael (Alexandra) Rakoski (and their daughter Eleanor Rigby Rakoski), Dean Rakoski, Ruth Holmes, and Joseph Holmes Jr. He had a very close relationship with them all their lives, and will always be their "Uncle Tom."
Tom was employed with the E.J.& E. Railway, and later with the Diocese of Joliet. He was a generous and giving man, a beloved brother and uncle who will be fondly remembered by many many extended family and friends.
Chapel services will be Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd., Joliet, IL. in fulfillment of Thomas' wishes, Cremation Rites were accorded. Visitation Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
