Age 82. Passed away peacefully at the Joliet Area Hospice Home, on Monday, May 11, 2009, after a brief illness. A lifelong resident, Tom was a U.S. Navy Veteran who served as a signalman during WWII. He was employed by the Meadow Gold Dairy, Michalene"s Liquors, and retired in 1987 from the Will County Zoning Department. Member of the Will County Retirees Association and past member of the Westside Kiwanis. Tom felt honored to have served as an usher for 53 years at St. Patrick"s Church in Joliet. He was an avid golfer and diehard Cubs fan. A loving husband and father, whose greatest joy were his grandsons. Preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy (nee Harrison); his parents Thomas L. and Josephine Surinak; a brother, Lawrence, and a sister, Monica Surinak. Survived by his daughter Deborah (David) Brozman; grandsons Matthew and Michael Brozman; one brother-in-law, Robert (JoAnn, deceased) Harrison; two sisters-in-law Lois (Lawrence, deceased) Surinak and Lydia (Edward, deceased) Harrison; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the nurses and staff of the Joliet Area Hospice Home, and the Medical ICU at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Patrick"s School Adopt-a-Child Program would be appreciated.

From where services will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 9:30 AM to St. Patrick"s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation on Thursday from 2-8 PM.
