Thomas R. Landvogt, born February 25, 1931, at rest on Monday, October 26, 2015 with his loving family by his side.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Jeanette (nee Bricknell); children, Janet R. (Thomas) Usellis, Thomas F. (Lisa) Landvogt and Rita M. (Jeff) Duckworth; grandchildren, Jennifer (Devon) MacKay, David (Caitlyn) McEllis and Daniel (Courtney) Usellis, Thomas D. (Becky) Landvogt and Mathew Landvogt, and Jacoby (Macklin) Andrick; great grandchildren, Seth Stone and Isaac Landvogt.
Preceded in death by his parents, Frank J. and Mildred E. (nee Sappenfield) Landvogt; a daughter, Carol D. Landvogt; a sister, Mildred Amsteen.
Thomas proudly served in the United States Marine Corps in Korea. A member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399, he worked as a Chief Plant Operating Engineer for the University of Illinois at Chicago for 26 years. He loved nature and traveled extensively in the U.S. enjoying camping, canoeing and hiking. He had a love for gadgets, electronics, technology, and Chicago sports. He was an avid reader and lifelong learner.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas’ name to the U.S. Marine Toys for Tots Foundation would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Thomas’ life will begin on Monday, November 2, 2015 with a service in the funeral home chapel at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3-9 p.m.
