Terrance Takacs

Age 86 of Joliet, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022 at his home with his daughters by his side.

He was born in Joliet on August 30, 1936 to Stephen and Angeiine Takacs (Spicher).  Terry graduated from Joliet Catholic High School.

In October of 1961, Terry married Dorothy Zameic and together they raised their two daughters, Susan and Sally. The household was always full of pets, including cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish and hermit crabs.

Terry spent his career in the printing industry, beginning with Georgia Pacific and retiring from Apollo Colors in Rockdale at age 65.

Outside of work, Terry was a true sportsman.  He enjoyed and played all of them, but his favorites were golf and fishing. He spent many Father’s Days on a Canadian fishing trip with a close group of friends.

Terry was proudest of his family, his home, his yard and his garden. He spent time mowing the large yard, planting trees, growing vegetables and caring for the plants, pets and family he held dear. He also had a precise attention to detail, which manifested itself in the many model boats and woodworking projects that he built.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents: Angeline and Stephen Takacs and his sister: Jacque Marco (Frank Marco).

He is survived by his daughters: Susan Takacs (Alex Lin) and Sally Takacs; his niece: Lauri Bank (Mike Bank), and great nephew and nieces: Brendan Bank (Abbie Porter Bank), Keely Galloway (Patrick Galloway) and Elizabeth Bank (Jacob Menegon).

Per Terry’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N Chicago Street in Joliet. Interment will follow where he and Terry will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Will County Animal Shelter or to Lightways Hospice.
