Susan Kay (Wheeler) Mehon

Susan “Sue” K. Mehon (née Wheeler), age 66, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her own home, Saturday, April 22, 2023. She was a long-time resident of Crest Hill, IL.

Sue was preceded in death by her loving mother and father, Helen and Don Wheeler; and her brother, Jay Wheeler.

Sue is survived and incredibly missed by her loving husband of 41 years, Brian Mehon; and two sons, Eric (Shelley) and Kevin (Carrie). She was also a devoted Nana to her grandson, Ethan.  Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Karen Sari (Ted) and brother, Jim Wheeler (Melodie).

Sue encapsulated all of the love, compassion, and nurturing qualities that made her the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. As a woman that was full of life, she loved to travel with her family and friends, enjoying every possible moment & embracing life to the fullest.

The love of music (especially in concert) was one of the strongest shared joys between her and her entire family.  Most recently, the whole family attended a Buddy Guy show and were blessed to have one last live music experience together.

Sue and Brian were soulmates that spent almost every single waking moment together in a marriage that exemplified what true love and selflessness look like.

All of the values Sue embodied were directly applied to her nursing career at St Joseph’s Hospital, where she blessed her patients with the care they deserved and needed for 40+ years.

Sue will be missed by all for the rest of our time on earth.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet with a visitation from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  A service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 7:00 p.m. Per Sue’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded following services.
