Steven D. ("Steve") Sceniak

Steven D. “Steve” Sceniak, age 64, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 with his loving family by his side.

Left to cherish Steve’s life and memories his daughter, Sasha (Max) Sceniak; son, Steven Sceniak; step-daughters, Jennifer (Carl) Walls and Nicole (Steve) Weaver (Steve); step-grandchildren, Sophia Beck, Harper Walls, and Kacey and Caleb Weaver.

Steve was a maintenance mechanic for Silver Cross Hospital for 30 years and loved working with the staff. His life revolved around his children. He was a true Renaissance man and an amazing teacher. Steve taught his children to cook, fish, camp and instilled in them the importance of car maintenance. Steve shared his Friday nights watching movies with his son, Steven, and indulging in a late night pizza.

Steve enjoyed taking long, wonderful road trips and seeing the beauty of this great land.  He found peace in the wonders and stillness of nature as well as excitement in the hustle and bustle of a big city. Through documentaries and books and always questing in life for more knowledge, as well as the appreciation for the beauty in the simplest parts of nature, like a spider web; he would manage to find a lesson or discussion in anything and was always fascinating to listen to.

He enjoyed helping others as well as fixing and building - he was a master craftsman and wood worker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steve’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be greatly appreciated.

A celebration of Steven’s life will begin on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 with a memorial visitation from 5:00 p.m. until the chapel service at 7:30 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road – Joliet, IL).
