Steven A. May

Age 58 of Joliet passed away December 16, 2016 at Silver Cross Medical Center in New Lenox. Steve was born in Chicago on August 7 1958 to the late Allan D. and Arlene (Hansen) May.

Beloved husband of Jacquie (nee Barney) for 34 years. Loving father to daughters, Erinn and Halle and son, Ryne (Amy) and children, Joseph, Natalie, Sean, and grandson Brady. Dear brother to Carol (Tim) Vicic of Joliet, Jeanne (Michael) Cecchi of Shorewood, and the late Janet (Brian) Baftiri of Iowa. Father in law, the late Jack (Roberta) Barney. Mother in law, Donna (John) Vercelote. Brother in law, Michael (Joanne) Vercelote, sister in law, Kara (Cliff) Hedrick. Fond uncle to 10 nieces and nephews, and special godfather of 4.

Steve was raised in Joliet.  Graduated from Joliet Central High School in 1976. He was employed for 25 years by Printing Craftsman in Joliet, then joined the Laborer’s Union Local #2. For the past 15 years he owned and operated Steve’s Lawn Service.

Steve was an avid sports fan of the Chicago Cubs (Did you know they are the 2016 World Series Champions?), Chicago Blackhawks, New England Patriots, and Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!). He loved taking trips to Michigan, and exploring the lighthouses along the lake. Steve will always be remembered for his special sense of humor, his beautiful blue eyes, and most of all his unconditional love for his family and friends. He touched the lives of everyone he met.

Visitation is Wednesday December 21, 2016 from 3-8 pm at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road Joliet. A memorial celebration of his life will take place on Thursday December 22, 2016 at 11 am at Faith Lutheran Church, 353 North Midland Avenue Joliet. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Steven’s memory to his family would be appreciated.
