Steven Michael Matthews

Steven Michael Matthews, age 56, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Rockdale, IL. 

Steven will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his work, and his passion for pool. An avid pool player, you may have encountered his amazing shots whenever played. He was a proud member of the union, working as a painter with Local 33, where he earned the respect of his colleagues through his strong work ethic and craftsmanship.

Steven's greatest joy, however, was spending time with his family. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by his fiancé Amanda Nicholson; mother, Theresa (Tony) Casarez, his siblings: Phillip (Jill Hischier) Matthews, Tony (Linda) Matthews, Christopher (Kim) Matthews, Mark Matthews, Johnette (Ron) Terrell, and Debbie (Heather) Minnick. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will carry on his memory.

Steven was preceded in death by his father, Bobbie Matthews. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Tezak Funeral Home, 12112 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL. Cremation rites will follow the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steven's honor to a charity of your choice.
