Sophie E. Smolich (nee Vonch)
Age 92, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2011 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice. Born in Joliet, residing in Crest Hill for 64 years and Homer Glen for 5 years. Beloved and caring mother of Judy (Ron) Bolte, Bud (Cheri) and Sandy (Henry) Burla. Also survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren and a sister Katherine Ancel, and many nieces and nephews. Preceeded in death by her husband (Frank in 1995) and grandson Jeff Bolte in 1986, her parents Charles and Caroline Vonch, her sisters Carrie Caldwell, Ceil Aldeen, Ann Howard, Marge Lipinski, Agnes Skroko, infant sister Marian at 11 months, brothers Joe and John.
Our sincere thank you to Dr. Ramesh Patel, for his excellent care and friendship through the years and to special friends Bev and Rachel. Sophie was a member of St. Joseph Altar and Rosary, senior parishioners, A.F.U. and the Sr. Citizens Association.
Sophie enjoyed scrabble and bingo in her younger days. We will all miss her prayers and believe she will continue to watch over us.
Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM February 8, 2011 at Tezak"s Home to Celebrate Life, services will be held at 12:00 PM. Interment at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials in Sophie"s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
