Sophie K. (Pooley) Bortoli

Sophie K. Bortoli (nee Pooley), age 100, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2016.

Sophie is survived by her two loving daughters, Deborah (Richard) Schmitz and Mary Kaye (Mike) Rooney; grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Schmitz, Michael Jr., Matthew and Maxwell Rooney; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband, Peter Bortoli (1997); parents, William and Elizabeth (nee Weber) Pooley; siblings, Erma, Lloyd and Richard Pooley.

Sophie was born and raised in Peotone, IL. She was the past president of Irving Club Woman’s Auxiliary. Sophie’s main joy was her family; she loved spending as much time with them as possible. Sophie was an amazing baker and was well known for it.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family invites relatives and friends to gather on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Chapel in Joliet for a committal service to be held at 10:30 a.m. Ken Plese officiating. Per Sophie’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.

There will be no services at the funeral home.
