Sophia A. Panice (nee Slowik)

Age 92, born in Argo, IL. on April 22, 1916 to Walter and Mary (nee Goryle) Slowik. Passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Provena Villa Franciscan. Survived by her daughter Carole (late Mario) De Benedetti of Joliet, IL.; son Ron (June) Panice of Colleyville, TX.; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; one sister Estelle (late Gabe) Wybraniec from AZ.; and one brother Joe (Pat) Slowik from Elmhurst, IL. Also survived by numerous relatives. Preceded in death by her husband Herman Panice; daughter Joyce (Jerry) Gerardi; son-in-law Mario De Benedetti; her parents Walter and Mary Slowik; Retired from National Can Company. Sophia enjoyed playing games, going to Vegas, and playing cards. She was one ""helluva"" pinochle player. Sophia was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and aunt with an extraordinarily generous heart. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 10:30 AM at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus 604 N. Raynor Joliet, IL. 60435. Visitation will also be at the Church on Saturday beginning at 10:00 AM. Private interment services will be held.
