Shirley T. (Logsdon) Ware

January 26, 1939 — July 2, 2022

Shirley T. Ware (nee Logsdon)

“G.G.”

Age 83 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 2, 2022 with her loving family by her side.

Born January 26, 1939 in Brandenburg, Kentucky, but called Crest Hill home for nearly 70 years. Shirley dedicated over 45 years as a hairdresser, owning and operating Shirley’s House of Beauty.  Her loyal customers looked forward to weekly visits, where the shop was always filled with great conversation and laughter, and where Shirley made them look and feel beautiful. Many walked in the door as customers, but walked out as life-long friends.

Shirley’s true beauty came from the inside, where her eyes shined so bright with love, pride, and joy for her family; where her zest for cooking often fed armies; and where her farm-girl-at-heart passion for gardening occupied her free time.

She is survived by her adoring husband: Hugh Ware, celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this month; children:  Tina (Ed) Dzurko, Perry (Lori) Alberico, Sandy (Ron) Reitz, and Tammy Glasgow; step-daughters: Pam (late John) Rapcan, Bev (Kevin) Mahr, and Sandy (Doug) Beguin; grandchildren: Bill Dzurko, Aimee (Andrew) Giangrosso, Katie (Bob) Camardo, Von (Lauren) Stein,  and Jillian Glasgow; step-grandchildren: Chris, Sean, Krystina, Danny, Mike, Jeff, Stephan, Mandy, and Jenny; great-grandchildren: Gianna, Jayden, Juliana, Skylar, Anthony, Nicholas, Quinn, Evie, Bradley, and numerous step-great-grandchildren, and her dear friend: Barbara Jenco.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents: Corbett and Elsie Catherine (Martin) Logsdon; granddaughter: Kelly Glasgow, as well as numerous siblings.

The family extends special appreciation to Lucy Pineda, who was Shirley’s tireless care-giver, and to Susie Zigrossi, who supported the family in times of need.

A private service will be held at a later date and Shirley will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Shirley’s memory to the family for their distribution or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
