Shirley M. (Louch) Liker

May 18, 1932 — September 23, 2016

Shirley M. Liker (nee Louch), age 84 entered into eternal life on Friday, September 23, 2016, with her family by her side.

Shirley is survived by her loving son, David (Sandra) Liker; loving daughter Dolores (James) Brncich; dear brother, James (Margaret) Louch; cherished grandchildren, David Liker Jr., Denise (Kevin) Fennell, Danielle Liker, Aaron (Lisa) Brncich, Adam (Julie) Brncich, Robert Fisher, Katrina (Mike) Provance, Alexandra Fisher; cherished great grandchildren, Tristan, Brayden, Colton, Melina, Natalie, and Joseph; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and good friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, George Liker Sr.; son, George Liker Jr.; father, Benjamin Louch; birth mother, Hazel Wietting; mother, Elizabeth (Roy) Morrow; four sisters, Roma (Stephen) Kimak, Elizabeth (Charles) Gergacz, Charlotte (John) Ligos, Mary Lou (Buzz) Welter; four brothers, Jack McCormick, Joseph (Elizabeth) Louch, Robert (Judy) Louch, and George (Mari Jo) Grant.

Shirley was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet. She was a member of the Croatian Cultural Club, Senior Citizens Association, and Cantigny Post VFW Auxiliary 367. She was the best potica and strudel maker. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Her friends knew her as “Sunshine.” She loved to make others laugh and smile. Her smile will be greatly missed.

Donations in Shirley’s name, to Joliet Area Community Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice for the excellent care provided.

A Celebration of Shirley’s life will begin on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a visitation from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Rd, Joliet, IL 60435, then driving in procession to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary Nativity Cemetery in Crest Hill.
