Shirley Ann Christopher
Age 63 of Crest Hill, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born January 2, 1957 in Joliet, Shirley Ann was a daughter of Andrew and Pauline (Mikula) Christopher. She was raised and educated in Lockport Township. Following school, Shirley went on to work for Rockwell and then transitioned to Crosfield Chemical where she remained dedicated for twenty five years.
Shirley Ann was a generous and caring soul. Everybody referred to her as their “caretaker”. In her free time she could always be found lost in a good book or baking something delicious for all to enjoy. She also loved watching her favorite D.I.Y. and home improvements programs. Over the past eight years of Shirley’s life she had to receive dialysis treatment for kidney failure until on June 6th when she received a new kidney which gave way to a new lease on life for Shirley. She was eternally grateful for that opportunity and the extreme generosity of a stranger. Shirley will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her siblings: Judith (Steve) Sohn, Edward (Debbie) Christopher and Stan (Robin) Christopher; nephews: Nick Pearson, Nathan (Kyle) Christopher, Nicholas Cheville and Joseph Christoper; aunt: Clara Weiss, and her fur baby: Missy the mini schnauzer.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents: Andrew and Pauline; nephew: Tyler Christopher, and numerous aunts and uncles.
Family will receive relatives and friends for a brief visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery, 23060 W Jefferson Street in Joliet. Shirley will be laid to rest at Woodlawn following the service.
