Sheila Marie Barker (nee Foster), age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017.

Sheila is survived by her loving children, James (Monica) Barker and Catherine Barker; grandchildren, Matthew and Dylan Barker; sister-in-law, Lorraine (the late Grant) Barker; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold “Bill” Barker (2017); her parents, William and Irene (nee Egan) Foster; sisters, Clare Foster, Ruth Sayer, Kitty Martin and Joan Hayes.

Sheila was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario and resided in Joliet since 1959. She was a longtime parishioner of Cathedral of St. Raymond and was a member of the Seniors Club. Sheila was a volunteer at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be dearly missed.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the family's dedicated caregiver, Amy as well as the entire staff at Joliet Area Community Hospice for the wonderful care provided to her and her entire family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila’s name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.

A celebration of Sheila’s life will begin on Friday, June 16, 2017 with a visitation at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus from 11:00 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 12:00 p.m. Per Sheila’s wishes cremation rites will be accorded following Mass. Interment will be held at a later date in Ontario, Canada.

There will be no funeral home visitation or services.
