July 21, 1962 — January 31, 2013

Shawn M. Smith, age 50, of Joliet, came to rest on January 31, 2013. Survived by his siblings, Paul (Sue DeLost) Smith of Joliet, Maureen Morse of Greenland, NH, F. Brian (Jana) Smith of Libertyville, Steven Smith of Greenland, NH and Kathleen (Dan) Shea of Beverly, MA. Four nieces and nephews, Brendon and Taryn Smith, William and Emma Morse; also survived by an extensive loving family of cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, Paula J. (nee Manley) and Franklin B. Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Diabetes Association www.diabetes.org.

Shawn was a graduate of the Cathedral of St. Raymond, Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1981, and Morrison Institute of Technology. Upon graduating, he moved to Nashua, New Hampshire where he worked as a Cad/Cam designer, he continued his profession working at Remcor Corp. in Glendale Heights. Shawn was a scholar of world history and a collector of historical and military artifacts and books. With his quick wit and detailed mind, Shawn loved to engage people in conversations on history, politics and sports. He enjoyed spending summers on the New Hampshire sea coast with family and spent hours floating in the waves. He was an avid Cubs fan. Shawnie was a gentle soul, he had a very kind heart and will be universally missed.

A Celebration of ShawnA�??s life will begin on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 with family and friends meeting at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment private. Visitation will be on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at TezakA�??s Home to Celebrate Life.
