Sarah E. Lucas

Age 35 of Rockdale, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 at her home with family by her side.

Born May 27, 1988 in Joliet, Sarah was the daughter of Joseph and Susan (Russell) Kranz. She was raised and educated in Romeoville and graduated from Lockport Township High School. Following graduation, Sarah was hired as a veterinary technician for VCA Joliet Animal Hospital. Taking care of animals was her true calling and she felt very fortunate to be able to love going to work every day. On August 2, 2014, Sarah married her best friend, Mr. Matthew Lucas at St. Jude Catholic Church in Joliet. Together they made a home and many cherished memories. In her free time, Sarah enjoyed being creative with all different types of crafts and loved to decorate. She especially enjoyed decorating for her favorite holidays, Halloween and Christmas. Fall was definitely her favorite season and she enjoyed traveling to various pumpkin patches and participate in other various fall activities. When she wasn’t taking care of her own animals or Matt, she enjoyed relaxing to old “I Love Lucy” re-runs and cheering on the Chicago Cubs when they were playing. Sarah will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband: Matt Lucas; mother: Sue Kranz; mother-in-law: Donna Lucas; brother and sister-in-law: Larry and Missy Lucas; half-brother: Joseph (Jessica) Kranz; nephews: Mithell and Logan Lucas and Travis Kranz; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and her precious kitty-cats: Bandit, Lucy, Desi, Leo and Billy.

Sarah is preceded in death by her father: Joseph Kranz, and father-in-law: Larry Lucas

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet.

Per Sarah’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Sarah’s memory to an animal charity of your choosing.
