Samuel San Chhoun
Age 66 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at Lightways Hospice Care in Joliet.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Tep and Sophea (Sous) Chhoun, and his godmother Prak, Yeun as well as two brother and one sister.
San is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Mom T. Chhoun; three daughters: Sophie (Anton) Semrov, Sophan (Anthony) Tran, Sophia (Robert) Kheng; grandchildren: Wyland and Isaac Sermrov, Kaelyn and Malia Tran, Aaden, Ayla and Jaden Kheng as well as two brothers, five sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
San was born on June 6, 1956 , second oldest of 11 children in Kampong Speu, Cambodia to Tep, Chhoun and Sous, Sophea. He was sponsored to the United States in 1986 by USCC and Catholic Charities and lived in Joliet ever since. He was well known in the Joliet/Chicago community to many fellow Cambodians. If anyone needed help with anything he was always willing to help without hesitation. He was a kind and generous person who gave back to his family in Cambodia and also donated his time and effort to Watt Khmer Meta. He enjoyed various activities such as playing instruments and volleyball, listening to music, dancing and singing, fishing, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home with prayer at 2:00 p.m.
A prayer service will be held the following day, Sunday May 28, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home with cremation to follow.
