It is with heavy and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear sister Sally Ann Marie Polesel, who returned to the Lord on December 26, 2024.
She was born in Joliet, IL to Peter and Virginia (nee Chmielewski) Polesel on June 19, 1954. A very special date and honor to always share her birthday with her father for Father’s Day.
Sally was a cherished daughter, devoted sister, and friend to many. She loved her siblings dearly, and was their rock and strength, guiding them throughout their entire lives. Her love for her family was unconditional as she dedicated her life as official caretaker for her father, mother, and brother during their illnesses. Sally’s love for her family knew no bounds; she was their biggest supporter and helping hand, including being our Sal”Uber”.
Sally was a devout Catholic who leaned on her faith during difficult times of her life especially after her diagnosis of heart failure five years ago. She peacefully passed on her own terms, in her own home, with family by her side.
This loss leaves her siblings shattered and broken, but as with their mom and dad, they would receive signs from Heaven. Dimes from their mom and butterflies from their dad. Nancy, Petey, and Marlene will be watching for the sign that Sally sends when she undoubtedly will reach out to them.
Sally had a special connection with animals in her life, mothering many cats and dogs through the years, and especially her bond with beloved dogs Chata and Bailey.
Sally graduated from Joliet West High School in 1972. She was a dedicated softball and volleyball player for years and was absolutely loved by her teammates. Everyone loved her signature “Big Mac” baseball cap. She was an avid gardener having plants and flowers surrounding her back yard. She LOVED playing cards and games with her family. You would never see Sally without a camera in hand, thus leaving an endless amount of memories to cherish. She was always the life of the party and the planner of many of those parties. Always had a smile on her face.
Sally was a cherished employee of Joliet Auto Supply as the head secretary after over 20 years of service until their closing. She was a devoted secretary at St Joseph’s Church Rockdale in which she dedicated her life. She was a dealer at Empress Casino, until her calling to take care of her ailing father.
Sally was extremely committed to saving babies with her connection to the Pro-Life Action League.
Sally was preceded in death by her loving parents Pete and Jean.
She is survived by her beloved sister Nancy (the late Jerry) Polesel Martin, her devoted brother Pete, and her admiring sister Marlene as well as many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
As Sally believed so much in the power of prayer, the family would like to thank you for all your prayers.
