Rossie Jean King gracefully completed her earthly assignment on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at home in Joliet with her family by her side.
Rossie was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved nature, animals, music, cooking, playing chess, and watching Jeopardy. Rossie was a fashionista, and her conversation was not complete until she made whomever she was conversing with laugh. Rossie was a true southern belle - quiet, loving, and firm, but most of all, she was resilient and will be deeply missed by all of her family, friends, and previous co-workers.
Rossie leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Michelle Atkinson of Joliet, IL, Dr. Tonya (Gary) Davis of Winterville, NC, Anntonette (Bruce) Smith of Joliet, IL, and Francesca "Frankie" King of Joliet, IL: eight grandchildren, Bria Parker, Kiarra Hines, Tiarra Hines, Tre Hosey, Camille Parker, Galen Davis, Leland Parker, and Tianna Davis: two great-grandchildren: Brielle Parker and Harmoni Hosey: four close friends, Janie Ballard, Alice Lee, Brenda Watts, and Sarah Brass-King.
Rossie is preceded in death by her father: Arthur Newkirk, mother: Marzella Newkirk, and son-in-law: David Atkinson.
