Rosalie F. Andel (nee Bozich)

Age 90 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 12, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital surrounded by her family.

Born January 18, 1934 in Joliet, Rosalie was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Juliann (Stober) Bozich. She attended St. Mary Nativity School and Providence High School and later graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing. 

On September 8, 1956 Rosalie married Mr. Merrill L. Andel in Joliet and after living in Breckenridge, Minnesota, they moved back to Joliet to start a home and raise their family. In her free time, Rosalie enjoyed gatherings with her family, playing bingo, watching the Chicago Cubs and various game shows, as well as spending time with her cat, Prissy. Most of all she loved being with her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but never forgotten.

Rosalie is survived by her children: Debbie (Bob) McCallum, Lori (Randy) Vicic, Larry Andel, Bob Andel (Sofia Figueroa), and Kathie (Tony) Niewinski; grandchildren: Bob (Kim) McCallum, Scott Rodeghero (Stephanie Scheible), Tess (Patrick) O’Brien, Christian Niewinski and Ryan Niewinski (Ally Donnelly), and one great-grandson: Nickolas McCallum. She is also survived by step-grand and great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years: Merrill “Bud” Andel who passed away in 2007, and her brother: Richard (Mary Lou) Bozich.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Monday, February 19, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. A celebration of Rosalie’s life will continue on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 beginning with closing prayers in the funeral home chapel starting at 9:20 a.m. The funeral will then drive in procession to St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial which will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow and Rosalie will be laid to rest with her husband at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Cemetery in Crest Hill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Rosalie’s memory to a charity of the donors choosing.
