Ronald W. Prete, Sr.

Age 79 of Tinley Park, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at ManorCare Health Services in Hinsdale.

Born April 16, 1941 in Chicago, Ronald was a son of William and Virginia (Bradbury) Prete. He was raised and educated in Chicago and graduated from Calumet High School with the class of 1959. Following high school, Ronald began his career as a semi-truck driver. He was a proud and loyal union member with Local #710. Ronald retired from trucking in 2006 after 46 years behind the wheel. He was an avid dog lover and spent his free time taking his four legged companions on long walks. Ronald also loved music and going to concerts of his favorite musical acts with his wife, Ruth. His most treasured times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ronald is survived by his daughter: Susan Jimenez, and son: Ronald W., Jr. (Peggy) Prete; grandchildren: Erik Highfill, Monica Highfill Cicimov, Ashlei (Jeremy) Smith, L. J. (Brianna) Prete, Veronica (Zach) Thornburg, Alexandra Highfill, Keven Highfill, Joseph Prete, and James Prete; great-grandchildren: Angelica Highfill, John Nielsen, Sofia Cicimov, Charlotte Smith, Joslynne Prete, Adriana Prete and Lincoln Prete; great-great grandson: Roman Bach; brother: William Prete, and sisters: Gayle Miller and Virginia Takacs.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 46 years: Ruth Prete, and parents: William and Virginia.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road in Joliet. Masks and social distancing practices are required. The funeral home staff will assist the family not to exceed the safe number set forth for the visitation. For those wishing to attend the funeral service. They are encouraged to attend virtually. A livestream will be made available at time of service.

Interment will follow and Ronald will be laid to rest next to his wife Ruth in Chapel Hill Garden South in Oak Lawn.
