Ronald “Harley” Carnes, age 74, at rest on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
Ronald is survived by his loving daughters, Jeanna (Joseph Jr.) Pluth and Judy (George) Sikic; grandchildren, Brock, Brett and Jacob Pluth, Coty (Nicole) Lake, Brittnee, George and Kortney Sikic and Felicia Carnes; brother, Lewis (Sharon Grant) Carnes; “sis,” Judy (Lee) Carmichael and family; Jeannie Carnes; as well as many dear nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his son, David Carnes; parents, LeRoy Carnes and Margaret (Louis) Koppers; brother, George Carnes, James Carnes, Robert Carnes and; sister, Cheryl Carnes-Sparks; step-brother, Paul Koppers; and beloved companion, Babe.
Ronald was a proud United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and Elvis Presley fan. He was a Harley Davidson rider for over 50 years and proud member of the D-H Club in Joliet. Ronald was a Laborer for the Local #75 and a Cement Mason for the Local #11. He was also a lifetime member of the Belmont Athletic Club and the Ingalls Park Athletic Club. Throughout his life, Ronald has made countless friends that have become his brothers. He sadly leaves them behind. Ronald’s absence, beautiful smile, and big hugs will be forever felt by all who knew and loved him.
Per Ronald’s wishes, he requests that his fellow bikers take him home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronald’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
A celebration of Ronald’s life will begin on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:15 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Bernard Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
