Rodrigo Santos Magundayao passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017.  Rodrigo is survived by his two daughters Lisa Magundayao and Cheryl Magundayao North, both of who are his daughters with Delia Theda Uy (Magundayao-Scott); his two grandchildren, Charlotte and Bennett North; his son-in-law Michael North; as well as his many loving family members and friends in Chicago and Taguig, Philippines. Born in Bagumbayan, Taguig City, Philippines on March 20,1942 to Felipa and Ruperto Magundayao. He was the second of four children.

“Rudy,” as he was lovingly known, left the Philippines in 1964 to pursue his dream of becoming a U.S. citizen.  Rudy enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1964 to 1972, where he was discharged with honors. Rudy became a U.S. citizen in 1976. Rudy would go on to be a civil servant for both Naval Station Great Lakes and Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Administration Hospital. Rudy was a strong believer in the value of education. While working as a civil servant, he furthered his education by attaining both his Bachelors and Masters in Business. Rudy eventually retired and returned to the Philippines.  While living his retirement years in the Philippines he helped some family members pursue their own dreams of attaining their educations.

Rudy will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

His family and friends will lovingly remember him every day and will greatly miss him.
