Roberta “Bobbi” Lara, age 60, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Roberta is survived by her sister, Theresa (Brian) Baranski; nephew, Brian (Kristin) Baranski Jr.; niece, Cheryl (Dave Ramirez) Baranski; great-nieces and nephews, Makenna, Carter, Logan, Ethan, Chase, Noah and Olivia; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and best friend, Bea Spights.
Preceded in death by mother, Beatrice (nee Frausto) Lara; grandmother, Trinidad (nee Qurioz) Frausto; grandfather, Pedro Frausto; and great-grandmother, Sabina Qurioz.
Bobbi retired from Joliet Junior College after 35 years of service, working in records and graduation. She received an honorary degree from Joliet Junior College upon her retirement. Bobbi was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed watching them play. Her favorite saying was “cool beans” which was a common part of her vocabulary. She was truly loved by all of her family, friends and coworkers and will be missed by all who knew her. Always together WeeWee and CoCo.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to all of the medical staff and hospice staff for the care provided to Bobbi throughout her battle. A special thanks to Joliet Junior College faculty and staff for all that you did for Bobbi.
A celebration of Roberta’s life will begin on Saturday, May 6, 2017 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service to be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Joliet. Per Roberta’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.
