Robert F. Zobel
“Bob”
Age 97 of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Joliet Area Community Hospice.
Born April 6, 1923 in Joliet, Bob was the son of Frank and Veronica (Dombroviak) Zobel. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School with the class of 1941. Following graduation, Bob went on to proudly serve in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. He was a devoted Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet. Bob was a member of the Holy Name Society and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector for the church. He worked for ComEd for 34 years and retired as a marketing engineer in 1985. Bob was a selfless man who helped shape his generation as the greatest generation. Family always came first. His unending love for his wife, Margaret and their two daughters, along with his dedication to his grandchildren were unmatched. Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Margaret (nee Dragovan); daughters: Nancy (the late George) Radakovich and Vicki (Michael) Archambeault; grandchildren: Jeffrey (Andrea) Archambeault and Karen (Tony) Madsen; great-grandchildren: Amelia and Hannah Madsen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Veronica; siblings: Marion (Charles) Gates, Roserita (Wendell) Brockett and Theresa (Joseph) Pagnusat, and son-in-law: George Radakovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N Chicago Street in Joliet. Interment will follow and Bob will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made as gifts in Bob’s memory to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Joliet Area Community Hospice.
