Robert J. Wolz
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the company of his family and best friend after a lengthy illness. He was born on October 12, 1931 to August and Eva Mae Wolz. A lifetime Joliet resident, he was a graduate of St Thaddeus Grade School, Joliet Township High School, Joliet Junior College and Northern Illinois University where he completed his graduate studies. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean Conflict achieving the rank of Corporal. Robert spent his lifetime in education including 34 years as a Professor of Business Administration at Joliet Junior College. He was also an entrepreneur with many diverse business interests.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean (nee Stefanich) Wolz; his children, Debby (Robert) Komp, Robert A. (Beth) Wolz and Susan (Steve) Vanisko; his beloved grandchildren, Brian and Kara Komp, Matthew and Michael Wolz and Eric and Lauren Vanisko; brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Lottie Stefanich, Mary and the late Edward Stefanich and Lillian and the late Curly Stefanich and his longtime friend and business associate Steven Schladenhauffen.
Robert lived for his family and grandchildren and took great pride in their achievements. His generosity and acts of kindness will long be remembered. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church would be appreciated.
A Celebration of Robert's life will begin on Monday, May 13, 2013 with family and friends meeting at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 North Chicago Street, Joliet, IL for a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of mass at the church. Inurnment immediately following the mass at St. Joseph Cemetery, Joliet. There will be no services held at the funeral home.
