Robert L. Mackey "Bob," age 84, at rest on Saturday, April 19, 2014 one week shy of his 40th wedding anniversary, with his wife and daughter close by his side.

Survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn D. (nee Kelly) Mackey; loving father of Ruth (David) Silverman; dearest grandfather of Robert T. Mackey, Mabel Mackey, Jennifer (Bryan) Lindskog and Sarah Silverman; sister-in-law, Carol (the late Ted) Mackey; brother-in-law, Glen (the late Naomi) Ellena also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and first wife LaVerle Mackey.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ida (nee Morgan) Mackey; his son, Robert L. Mackey; sisters, Shirley (John) Pristas, Eleanor (Jerry) Placher, JoAnn (Forest) Hill; brothers William (Babe) Williams, George (Sylvia), Edgar ‘'Don,' Harold G. (Delores), and Francis P. Mackey; also three brothers and one sister in infancy.

Robert was born in Joliet and was a lifelong resident. He retired in 2000 from Deaton-Kennedy Company after 49 years of dedicated service. Bob was a member of the Graphic Arts and Teamsters Union Local #458, the Moran A.C., Old Timers Baseball Association and officiated baseball, basketball and football youth division for over 40 years. When the kids became faster than Bob, he umpired slow pitch adult men and co-ed baseball in Manhattan. He enjoyed playing euchre with the guys and loved playing golf. Bob was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's name to St. Joseph Church in Rockdale would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Robert's Life will begin on Friday, April 25, 2014 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 2-7 p.m.
