Robert J. Lane

Robert J. Lane, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno, IL.

Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (nee Kaner-Sweeney) Lane; daughters, Kathleen (Rob) Gay and Susan (Mark) DeBleyzer; step-children, Richard (Pat) Sweeney, John (Veronica) Sweeney, Guy (Susan) Sweeney, Dolores (Richard) Gesorski and Debra Pratl; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Annamae (nee Barton) Lane; and parents, Richard and Lucille Lane.

Robert was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Oak Lawn, IL. Robert loved playing cards, especially Pinochle. He loved to travel and was an avid fishermen. Robert and Mary loved their trips to Alaska and always had a wonderful time there. He loved his family and will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roberts name may be made to Illinois Veteran’s Home or EWTN.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Illinois Veteran’s Home for their exceptional care.

A celebration of Robert’s life will begin on Monday, March 19, 2018 with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road Joliet, IL) beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
