Robert “Jonesy” J. Kovic, age 81, passed away peacefully at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center on July 16, 2016 with his loving wife by his side.
Robert is survived by his wife and caregiver, Judy Kovic (nee Darin); daughter Lynn (Stephen) Baginski; grandchildren, Drew and Kelly Baginski, and Christina Kovic; great-granddaughter, Charlotte Baginski; sister-in-law, Colleen Kovic; brothers-in-law, Jack, Jim, Richard (Beverly), Robert (Susan), Thomas (Marilyn), and Michael (Kathy) Darin; special aunt, Dr. Barbara (the late Robert) Greenham-Conway; aunt, Anne Davia; uncle, Jack Polyak; as well as numerous cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Polyak) Cvetkovich; brother, Joseph Kovic; and son, William Kovic.
Born in Crest Hill, IL, and graduated from Chaney School and Lockport Township High School. He faithfully served in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Private First Class. Bob retired from Illinois Bell Telephone after holding various positions, including supervisor for over 30 years.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers at Illinois Bell, also a former long-time member of the Joliet Rivals Club, and member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill. Bob enjoyed crossword puzzles, college football, classic cars, polka music, and fishing with his friends. He enjoyed playing his accordion and was an accomplished musician.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert’s name, to St. Anne Catholic Church in Crest Hill for the prayer garden project or other projects as need would be greatly appreciated.
Private services were held at Tezak’s Home to Celebrate Life.
