Robert J. Kovacik ""Shorty"" Age 86, at rest Monday, November 21, 2005 at Provena Villa Franciscan Nursing Home in Joliet. Survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Stephanie J. (nee Chopp) Kovacik. Loving father of John (Bonnie), Robert (Dawn) Kovacik and Julaine (Michael) Durdil. Dearest grandfather of Kimberly, Jeremy and Andrew Kovacik and Katy and Lauren Kovacik; two sisters, Judy (late Arthur) Snider and Joann Reiter; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Julie (nee Vrabec) Kovacik; two sisters, Mitzie Weller and Josephine (in infancy); and two brothers, Steve Kovacik and Joseph (in infancy). Robert was born in Joliet and was a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Retired from the U.S. Steel after 32 years of service. Robert was a member of the St. Joseph Holy Name Society, the Senior Citizens of St. Joseph and the Senior Citizens of Will County. Contributions to the St. Joseph Church Restoration Fund or the Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
