Robert L. Delaney, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Park Pointe Morris Senior Living.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lois M. Delaney (nee Schwab); two sons, Robert A. (Suzanne Descourouez) Delaney and Gary L. (Kathy) Delaney; grandchildren, Rob, Brad, Kevin and Michael Delaney. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margaret (nee Swanson) Delaney; one brother, Willis C. (Norma) Delaney.
Robert was a proud United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II and was a founding member of the American Legion Harwood Post #5. He was also past Trustee of the Lisbon Seward Fire Department where he helped to establish the 911 emergency program in Kendall County, a lifetime member of the Joliet Rivals Club and played clarinet in the Legion Band. Robert started his career passing papers at the Joliet Herald News and moved his way up to plant foreman. He retired in 1975 and became a farmer as well as an entrepreneur in various skills. Robert also loved hunting and fishing. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

A celebration of Robert's life will begin on Friday, January 2, 2015 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet, IL from 4-8 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home chapel during the visitation at 7:30 p.m. Chaplain Jim McGuire officiating.
