Robert E. Burgchardt Jr. of Plainfield, IL passed away peacefully on September 19, 2009 at Hines VA Hospital after a long illness. He fought a courageous battle over the past four years for his beloved wife, Carol, whom he cherished.
He was born on February 12, 1941 in Chicago, IL to Robert Sr. and Margaret Burgchardt.
He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, disabled due to significant injuries incurred while serving his country. He so enjoyed sharing stories with fellow war veterans.
He was formally self-employed as a private investigator and well respected reposseser in the Joliet, IL area for several years. He was forced to retire due to his debilitating condition from his war injuries.
Surviving is his loving wife of 24 years, Carol (nee Schaefer) Burgchardt of Plainfield, IL; children Michelle Burgchardt, Shawn Burgchardt, Clint Burgchardt, George Burgchardt, Debra (Lee) Jacksa-Campbell, Donna (Rob) Reiss; sisters Shirley (Joe) Hash and Roberta (Jim) Wagner; nine grandchildren Onya, Josh, and Jamie Burgchardt; Scott and Brad Jacksa; Melanie Campbell; Tabitha, Christine and Samantha Johnson and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by daughter Melissa, son Howard, sister Donna and his parents.
